Career Partners International – Seattle Publishes Report on the Importance of Evaluating Board Member Contributions

Posted March 26, 2015

Chapel Hill, NC (3/26/15) – Mike Humphries, President of Waldron, the Seattle offices of leading global outplacement, executive coaching and talent management services provider Career Partners International, recently published a report on the New York Stock Exchange’s site, Boardmember.com, on the importance of utilizing evaluations to improve board member performance and effectiveness.

The report, titled Board Performance: Evaluating Board Members to Drive Accountability, Leadership and Impact, describes a competency-based approach to evaluate the contributions of individual board members.

“When the goal is to optimize individual contributions and influence, how does a board evaluate one another when members are accustomed to operating as peers?” Humphries poses in the abbreviated version published on the (NYSE) Governance Services site earlier this month. “[The] answer: very deliberately and with rigor.”

Humphries’ approach helps to establish an accountability culture among the board, identifies competency criteria for each member and uses individual evaluation process best practices. Backed by a variety of research on board effectiveness and evaluations, this methodology enables board members to positively impact their organizations.

“Mike is an expert at providing boards the skills necessary to help their organizations thrive and succeed in a competitive environment,” commented David P. Hemmer, President and CEO of Career Partners International. “We are incredibly proud of the hard work done by Mike and his team which enables organizations to improve their performance every day.”
